مؤشرات العلاجية
تخدير القرنية لمدة قصيرة (e. g. tonometry ، إزالة الأجسام الغريبة القرنية والغرز).
قصيرة القرنية وإجراءات الملتحمة.
جراحة الساد.
كشط الملتحمة والقرنية لأغراض التشخيص.
بزل الغرفة الأمامية.
الجرعة و الإدارة
قطرة واحدة تغرس في كيس الملتحمة تخدير السطح بما فيه الكفاية للسماح Tonometry بعد 60 ثانية ، ويوفر المزيد من الانخفاض بعد 90 ثانية التخدير الكافي لتركيب العدسات اللاصقة.
ثلاث قطرات في فترات 90 ثانية تنتج ما يكفي من التخدير بعد 5 دقائق لإزالة جسم غريب من الظهارة القرنية ، أو لشق كيس ميبوموس من خلال الملتحمة.
حساسية القرنية بعد 3 قطرات أمر طبيعي مرة أخرى في حوالي 1 ساعة ، في حين بعد التخدير واحد يسري التخدير الفعال 10-15 دقيقة.
موانع
فرط الحساسية المعروفة لأدوية مماثلة (التخدير الموضعي من نوع إستر) ، حمض أمينو بينزويك أو مشتقاته.
المحاذير والإحتياطات
كما هو الحال مع غيرها من التخدير الموضعي:
يجب استخدام BENOX بحذر في المرضى الذين يعانون من مستويات غير طبيعية أو منخفضة من أنسجة البلازما.
يجب استخدامه بحذر ومراعي في المرضى الذين يعانون من الحساسية المعروفة ، أمراض القلب أو فرط نشاط الغدة الدرقية.
لا ينصح الاستخدام المطول.
إذا ظهرت علامات الحساسية ، توقف عن الاستخدام.
تستخدم في الحمل فقط عندما يشار بوضوح.
تأثيرات غير مرغوبة
كما هو الحال مع أدوية التخدير الموضعية الأخرى ، قد يحدث احمرار عرضي.
مع الاستخدام لفترات طويلة ، قد تحدث تآكل الظهارية القرنية ، التخلف أو منع الشفاء من تقرحات القرنية ، التهاب القرنية الشديد ، عتامة القرنية دائمة وتندب.

Composition
Each 1 ml contains:
Benoxinate hydrochloride ........................................................ 4 mg
Therapeutic Indications
Corneal anaesthesia of short duration (e. g. tonometry, removal of corneal foreign bodies and sutures).
Short corneal and conjunctival procedures.
Cataract surgery.
Conjunctival and corneal scraping for diagnostic purposes.
Paracentesis of the anterior chamber.
Dosage and Administration
One drop instilled into the conjunctival sac anaesthetises the surface sufficiently to allow tonometry after 60 seconds and a further drop after 90 seconds provides adequate anaesthesia for the fitting of contact lenses.
Three drops at 90-second intervals produces sufficient anaesthesia after 5 minutes for a foreign body to be removed from the corneal epithelium, or for incision of a Meibomian cyst through the conjunctiva.
The sensitivity of the cornea after 3 drops is normal again in about 1 hour, whereas after one drop the effective anaesthesia lasts 10-15 minutes.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to similar drugs (ester-type local anaesthetics), para-aminobenzoic acid or its derivatives.
Warnings and Precautions
As with other topical anaesthetics:
BENOX should be used cautiously in patients with abnormal or reduced levels of plasma esterases.
It should be used cautiously and sparingly in patients with known allergies, cardiac disease or hyperthyroidism.
Prolonged use is not recommended.
If signs of sensitivity develop, discontinue use.
Used in pregnancy only when clearly indicated.
Undesirable Effects
As with other local anaesthetics, occasional redness may occur.
With prolonged use, corneal epithelial erosions, retardation or prevention of healing of corneal erosions, severe keratitis, permanent corneal opacification and scarring may occur.
Pharmacological Properties
BENOX is the effective surface anaesthetic used in short ophthalmological procedures.
BENOX has an additional advantage of possessing bactericidal properties.
