Composition

Each 1 ml contains:
Timolol (as maleate) .................................. 2.5 mg or 5.0 mg
Preservative:
Benzalkonium chloride .............................. 0.01 %

Therapeutic Indications

Treatment of elevated intra-ocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

Dosage and Administration

Adults:
One drop of TIMOLOL 0.25% Sterile Eye Drops should be instilled into the affected eye(s) twice a day. If clinical response is not satisfactory, dosage may be changed to one drop of TIMOLOL 0.5% Sterile Eye Drops in the affected eye(s) twice a day.
If the patient’s intra-ocular pressure is still not at a satisfactory level, concomitant therapy with other drug(s) for lowering intra-ocular pressure can be instituted.
Children:
One drop of TIMOLOL 0.25% Sterile Eye Drops once or twice a day.
TIMOLOL Sterile Eye Drops should be used only during one month after opening.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the product.
Bronchial asthma or a history of bronchial asthma.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Sinus bradycardia.
Overt cardiac failure.
Second or third degree atrioventricular block.
Cardiogenic shock.

Warnings and Precautions

TIMOLOL Sterile Eye Drops should be used with caution in:
Pregnancy; only used if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk.
Lactation; because of the potential for adverse effects in infants; a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue medication.
Diabetic patients and patients subject to hypoglycemia; because TIMOLOL may mask the signs of hypoglycemia.
Cerebrovascular insufficiency; because of effects of beta blockers on blood pressure and pulse.
Hyperthyroidism.
Myasthenia gravis; in some patients the drug may increase muscle weakness.
In patients with angle-closure glaucoma, TIMOLOL should be used with a miotic and not alone.
As with the use of other antiglaucoma drugs, diminished responsiveness to timolol maleate eye drops after prolonged therapy has occurred in some patients.
Contact lenses should be removed prior to administration of TIMOLOL. Lenses may be reinserted 15 minutes following adminstration of the solution.
