About clomiphenea selective estrogen receptor modulator (serm),chlorotrianisene derivative, ovulation stimulator ,fertility agent.mechanism of action of clomiphenethe drug is an estrogen antagonist which exerts it`s pharmacological action by inducing ovulation. it induces gonadotropin secretion in women by blocking estrogenic feedback inhibition of pituitary. it increases the amount of lh and fsh released at each secretary pulse which results in enlargement of ovaries and ovulation. in men increased gonadotropin levels results in increased steroidogenesis and helps in oligospermia and infertility. indications for clomiphene1. anovulatory infertility 2. oligomenorrhoea 3. post pill amenorrhoea 4. oligospermia 5. polycystic ovary syndrome 6. lactation amenorrhoea. 7. psychogenic amenorrhoea 8. menorrhagia due to hyper plastic endometrium.
