Mupirax, (mupirocin), is a topical antibacterial agent which inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and RNA synthesis by binding to isoleucyl transfer RNA synthetase. It is mainly active against aerobic isolates of Staphylococcus aureus(including methicillin-resistant amp; B-lactamase producing strains ).Mupirax, (mupirocin), is indicated for the:-Treatment of primary and secondary superficial skin infections.-Treatment of various topical bacterial infections, such as impetigo, folliculitis and furunculosis caused by S. aureus.-Treatment of burn wound infections caused by MRSA infections.-Treatment of infected wounds and lacerations.
